Build up your mailing list and make your business boom

Do you know how many citizens we have here in the United States? I just looked it up and we have a little over 300 million. Keep that in mind and I will tell you why later.

Ok now let me give you a scenario, who knows it might really describe you.
You have a business involving direct mail or telemarketing and you need to build your mailing list. You can get names here and there, but I'm talking about a serious marketing list! You are not messing around, you want your business to boom. So where can you get access to enough names to make your venture smoke?

I have the answer for you. The List Company can provide you with consumer mailing lists from their extensive database that contains more than 14 million US businesses and, get ready for this, 300 million US consumers! That means that you would have access to practically every person in our great nation. Now that is what I call  a mailing list! In case that doesn't impress you let me tell you that our government, Fortune 500, and many others use The List Company for their marketing data. When it comes to list brokers, they are head and shoulders above the rest.

If you are serious about finding new customers for your business, you won't do any better than The List Company. Go check them out!

How deep can fatigue go?

They say that beauty is only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone. Well, let me tell you, fatigue goes all the way to the bone too. I am exhausted. We have worked six days per week for too long, and to make it even worse my alarm goes off at 2:30am. I start work at 4:00. We are supposed to get this Saturday off and I may just spend the whole weekend in the bed sleeping.

I would like to take my wife for a drive and if we feel up to it we may go visit a nearby dam. She is from another country and has never seen what holds our lake water in check. Hopefully we can go out to eat somewhere too. Well I have so many plans, maybe I won’t get to stay in bed all weekend after all lol.

Some new planters will make our property stand out

My wife loves gardening and together we have built many flower beds, as well as a vegetable garden. Now we want to decorate our property even more by getting some nice planters. We want to have some blooms and small shrubs near our entry door and walkway.

Another thing we have been thinking of is that winter is coming so outdoor gardening will soon be over. We want a nice indoor planter so we can enjoy our plants all winter. We thought it would be nice to grow some herbs also so we always have them fresh for cooking.

We searched on the internet for the best place to buy decorative planters and we found eplanters.com. Wow, what a huge selection of very stylish and beautiful planters they have! Every size, material, style, and finish that we can think of is available and there is free shipping on most of them. There is even low cost protection so we know we got the very best deal. There are some planters that are exclusive to eplanters and we like that because it means that we can have something that is high style, but different from the norm.

Eplanters has information packed product pages so we can probably find and order exactly what we want without help, but if we do need help they also have an expert customer service department to assist us. We like it because the planters are guaranteed, and if we don't like what we buy they have a 30 day return policy. I am sure we won’t need that but it is nice to have the assurance. I think this winter our house will be bright with fresh herbs and flowers. It will make the months we spend indoors a lot more bearable.

A bone barometer rarely fails in weather predictions

I am curious about something. As we age we seem to develop a built in weather forecaster in our bones. I can personally vouch for this phenomenon. Right before a rain or change in the weather my lower back, and other parts as well, start aching. The severity of the pain depends upon the severity of the weather. Sometimes I feel like I have been beaten and have bruising, and even fever in my joints. I can’t figure out how the weather can affect my insides. Consider this; When rain is in the forecast the air gets heavier and more humid. I understand that, but how can it affect my bones and muscles? They are buried under my skin and flesh, which are already moist, so the humidity shouldn’t have any affect. I can’t believe that the air is heavy enough to put sufficient pressure to cause pain on a body that has always worked hard for its bread and butter. I could understand if the weather affected my skin, but penetrating to my very bones is impossible to believe, except that I have the proof in the pain I feel.

Another curiosity that I have noticed is that wild animals know when the weather is going to get bad. Right before a winter storm you will see scores of animals out trying to find food to tide them over. They too seem to have built in barometers. I wonder if their bones ache before a storm too………..

The best coffee and the best food is at Vancouver Cafe

When I get out of bed the first thing I think of is a piping hot cup of coffee. When I think of coffee, I think of Vancouver Cafe, because they serve only Arabica coffees, all from climates around the world that are best suited for coffee growing. The coffee is carefully roasted in small batches to achieve superior taste.

Vancouver Cafe provides more than just the world's best coffee; Visit them for breakfast and you will feast on croissants, muffins, fresh fruits, and breakfast sandwiches. Their aim is to provide a wholesome healthy breakfast to start your day off right.

Are you free for lunch? Lets go to Vancouver Cafe again and try out some salads, pasta, wraps, and Italian panini. We will have some organic fruit juice with that, or how about another cup of the fine European coffee?

Lets get some of our friends together and go to Vancouver Cafe this evening. We will sample some hors d'oeuvres and canapes. I personally want some of the veal parmesan meatballs and mini marinated chicken skewers. There are so many exciting foods to try. If we prefer to have our gathering at home, we can get a delivery order and even plate service if we choose.

Vancouver Cafe, the best  food, the best coffee, the best atmosphere. Hope to see you there soon!

New washing machine and dryer on the way!

We finally ordered our new washer and dryer! Finally we will be able to do our laundry here at home. The reason we haven’t done it before is because we have little water here. We live in the mountains, and although we have a deep well, it doesn’t produce enough for our needs. Now we have a small water tank to haul water, and we have bought a new large tank for storage. The idea is to use the small tank to haul water to fill the big one. We will put in a separate pump system for the storage tank. When its all finished we will have the stored water and also our well. In the meantime until we get the big tank installed, we will use the small tank to put extra water into our well when we do laundry. I know it sounds inconvenient, but to us it seems great. We usually drive to town on Friday afternoon, after I have worked all day, and all week, to do our laundry. It gets old! At least now we can do our laundry at our convenience. When everything is done we will probably have to haul a load of water 2 to 4 times per month. That is unhandy also, but once again we can do it at our convenience. We can make more than one load in a day if necessary. The stored water in the tank will probably last for a month even if we don’t refill it.

Why didn’t I spend a few dollars on a good tarp to save myself a lot of money?

I have a bass boat sitting in my back yard. Several years ago it was a good boat but I left it uncovered for too many years and now it is ruined. I gave a lot of money for that boat, but now I have to replace the decks, carpet, all the seats, and probably do a lot of work on the motor before it will again be lake worthy. I have berated myself for not buying a good tarp to cover it. It would have only cost a few dollars and it would have saved a lot.

A friend of mine told me last week that it seems that I always have something expensive sitting my yard spoiling because I don't keep it covered. He recently bought a motorcycle from me that I had left uncovered for too long. I sold it to him for a fraction of the amount that I had invested in it. He had to do a lot of work on the bike before it would run. Once again if I had just spent the few dollars for a blue tarp to cover it, I could have saved thousands.

Guess what; now we have an ATV sitting outside. It needs to be covered badly. The fuel tank and fenders are already oxidizing and its aging rapidly. Here we go again. What I need to do is purchase a good quality canvas tarp so our ATV won't be the next weather related fatality in our yard. I had better do that right now or I will forget lol.

The way to the top is not by walking on the feelings of others

I often wonder why so many people seem to think that the way to climb the social and career ladders is by putting down, and walking over other people. Have you ever spent time with someone that is always full of negativity? Everything you say they pop up and demean it, and you also. You say good morning and they find something wrong with it. You have an idea and they tell you how much it sucks. You tell an experience that you are proud of, and they grin knowingly and sneeringly around to make sure everyone knows that your story sucks as much as you do.  I know someone like that and surprisingly too many people go along with him; I think mostly to keep him from attacking them with his negativity, which of course he does anyway. Sometimes I lose patience with people like that. I get tired of hearing how my ideas and everyone else’s ideas suck. It seems weird to me that people that know all the answers seem to have so much trouble in their own lives. I often wonder if people like that realize what they are like and how they come across to others.

For those people let me say this. Making other people smaller certainly does not make you bigger. Demeaning others does not make you more important. You are who and what you are; be happy with yourself, and if you are not happy, then fix it! I cannot help but despise these people, because they are the anchors that hold so many people back. They create insecurity and malcontent. Often they are rabble rousers that make ordinarily peaceful people to become discontented. Usually this is because of what I said earlier, it is natural to most people to avoid trouble, so they will string along with the negative ones to keep his sharp words against other people than themselves. None of us know all the answers, but all of us, big or small, are unique. We all know SOME of the answers, even if we don't know ALL of them. I promise you that the lowest among us has answers to something that the negative ones do not. We can all learn from each other and what I have learned is to try to ignore the ones that try to make their path easier by walking on others. Well, I will ignore them as long as I can, and then I will be saying some negative words of my own. Hmmmm, I may be falling into their trap. Maybe spreading their bad attitude is what they desire.......

What a great day we had! Cooking outside and playing Frisbee

My wife and I had such a great time this evening. First of all let me tell you that I have been working too hard lately, I am exhausted, irritable, and always sleepy. However that didn’t stop me this evening! First my wife and I played a couple of games of checkers. She beat me both games, like she always does. She is a much better player than me; Then we built a fire of oak and hickory wood under our grille and cooked some salmon, pork steaks, and fish, mmmmmmmm. We had that with fresh garden grown tomatoes and some corn on the cob, once again mmmmmmmm.

We ate our meal outside sitting in the yard swing, then we spent more time in the swing talking. Finally I got a frisbee and we spent most of an hour tossing it back and forth. We were hot and tired when we got done, but it was great fun and relaxing. We came in and took our showers. Now I am having a nightcap to further relax me before I go to bed. Once again I say to all of you, “its the small things in life that make it worth living”. May all of your days be as good as this one has been for me. God bless you.

As music becomes more high tech, it loses personality

I'm a picker, I'm a grinner, I'm a lover, and I'm a sinner.
I play my music in the sun.
I'm a joker, I'm a smoker, I'm a midnight toker,
Sure don't want to hurt no-one.

From “The Joker” by the Steve Miller Band

I miss the old pop and rock songs from my childhood. Of course I have most of them recorded, but its not the same to turn on the radio and hear what comes out of the speakers now. I know every generation has its own music and thinks that the music from the generations before isn't cool, but I really don't like a lot of today's music. Quite frankly it seems to me that the only quality a person has to have to become a famous singing star is to be weird enough to fit in. Ever notice how just plain strange most of todays stars are? Ok, ok I know; The hippies and hair bands of the 60's, 70's, and 80's were a little different too, but somehow they were cool. The music rocked! Maybe that is why they call it rock hmmmmmm.

I will continue my gripe about today's music. Too many of the lyrics suck. I have to admit that musicians of today are usually pretty good. Of course they have all the electronic cheaters that help them sound good, but that is ok. Playing music takes talent and hard work regardless of the electronic gadgets. I am a musician myself and sometimes the added effects are necessary, and add more character to the music. Now if someone could just write songs that make sense/tell a story/even talk about something fun. Rap music bugs me no end! I always tell everyone that rap stars are people who can't sing but want to be music stars anyway. Lets face it, if you have heard one rap song, you have heard them all. It seems that in the never ending struggle to be different, our musicians have all become alike. Oh for the good ol' days......

Feeling feverish

Last night my wife and I enjoyed each others company, teased and tickled each other, then went to bed. late in the night I woke to feel my wife shivering beside me. I asked her if she was cold, we had the ac going, and she said that she was very cold and didn't feel well. When I put my hand to her body I discovered that she was burning with fever. Today I don't feel very well but my wife is better. Hopefully I won't catch this. I had the flu so bad last winter that I thought I might die so it would be nice to miss this round of sickness.

We have no idea where my wife got the virus that made her sick. She hasn't been exposed to anyone but me since last weekend. Anyway hopefully this sickness is only a short one and hopefully we will both be fine tomorrow. I am working 6 days per week and I just don't have time or energy to be sick.

Our yard looks like a wooded park

It is amazing how pretty a heavily wooded yard like we have is right after mowing and trimming. My wife and I got outside this morning before the worst heat of the day, and gave our yard a good trimming, then I got on the tractor and used the mower on it to trim up our wooded driveway and among the trees surrounding our house. We were so pleased when we finished, it looks great! This summer has been so hot and dry that we hadn’t mowed our yard for quite a long time. We got a nice shower of rain late yesterday evening so we thought it was safe to mow today. After mowing we cut down some poison ivy growing in the trees beside our driveway, then my wife cooked some burgers for us, outside on an open fire. Yummy!

My wife and I enjoy working together. I told her how proud I am of her after we finished mowing. She is from the Philippines and had never driven a riding mower or car before she came here. She is still not a licensed driver but she can drive pretty well now. I have been working 6 days a week and I have been pretty tired and haven’t felt like working much here on our property. I am glad the mowing is done. Now I can spend the hottest part of the day inside, with air conditioning and tv…….

People will do anything for fame or fortune

Life seems to mean nothing anymore. I am watching a documentary on tv about a guy who apparently helped his wife to overdose on cocaine. Then when she died he tried mightily to "help" the detectives find who was responsible for her death. Pretty cold blooded I think. Every night there are tv shows that depict people killing other people for things like insurance money, drugs, sex, and any and everything else you can think of.

I don't understand how people can take life so lightly. It seems that if people are not trying to kill others they are risking their own life, usually trying for their few minutes of fame, or for money. What have you gained if you gain a buck and lose your life? What have you gained if you are famous but dead? You will never know about your fame. Remember, fame is fleeting but dead is forever......

Its time to make a new start, with a new home

One of the most beautiful places in the United States would have to be Wilmington, North Carolina. It has pretty much everything; lovely beaches, a great culture, wonderful business climate, and nice friendly people. All in all it is one of the most desirable places in the world to live or retire. There is nothing like southern living. That is why, in spite of the sluggish economy, the Wilmington NC real estate market is still moving forward.

If you are looking for a place to retire, or to make a new start I highly recommend that you check out Wilmington NC real estate listings with Sweyer & Associates at Century 21. They make it easy to search for and find the exact features you want in your new home. You can search by price range, location, type of house, number of bedrooms or bathrooms, homes near a school of your choice, property features, etc. I have never before seen a website that lets you do such a meticulous search.

A lot of us are ready to make a new start. We will find no better place to do that than in the Wilmington, NC area. Check out Sweyer & Associates at Century 21 and let them put their 23 years of service experience to work for you. By the way, they are the number 1 Century 21 in closed sales in North Carolina for 8 consecutive years, so if you are already living in the Wilmington area and want to sell your property, let them handle it for you. It is time to get your life moving again and make a new start. Sweyer & Associates with Century 21 can help you do that, check them out!

A new battery costs more than a new phone, battery included

We bought a new telephone last weekend and once again it proved that our country has a throw away mentality. We had 3 good cordless phones already but the batteries are getting weak. A new battery would make them as good as new, but when I checked battery prices I found out that the new battery cost as much or more than a new phone.

I don’t understand how that can be but I have seen it happen many times. Surely it costs money to manufacture a new phone, but yet the phone, complete with a new battery just like I need for my old phones, is cheaper than just buying a new battery. Theoretically I could buy a new phone just to get the included battery, throw the new phone in the trash, put the new battery in my old phone, and still save money. Ok, now I am confused.

I have a closet full of printers for our computers. Several years ago I was about to buy a new ink cartridge for a printer when I noticed that there was a similar printer with cartridges included that cost less than the ink cartridges alone. I thought what the heck and bought the new printer. After that, every time I needed a new ink cartridge I would simply buy a printer instead, and save several dollars. It doesn’t make a lot of sense but as long as it works I will ride it until it quits. I am hoping that someday when the battery in my truck goes dead I can save money by buying a new car instead, battery included of course…

CCNA training will help you start a top notch career

If you want to have a good life with enough money to take care of your needs and have a family, it is important to get training so you can have a career instead of just a job. Certainly one of the best fields that you can enter is something involving the internet. The internet is growing rapidly and it will be around for a long time. One training choice that I think is top notch is CCNA training. In case you don't know about CCNA it stands for Cisco Certified Network Associate.

When you become a CCNA professional you will be trained to install, configure and operate such services as dial access, LAN, and WAN for small networks. When you train with Cisco you know you are getting the most expert instruction available. You will go through training so intense that they call it CCNA boot camp! First you will gain your CCENT certification and then work toward the big one, which of course is the CCNA certification.

CCNA is the route you need to take to become a network professional. There is a large demand for this kind of work and it increases daily. If you are ready to begin your exciting new career as a networking expert, check out Cisco and read the testimonials; then give them a call and get ready to begin your training. You will be glad you did!

A new stone garden bench will finish off our landscaping in style

We are in the process of landscaping our yard and doing some needed repairs and additions to our home. We have created some new flower gardens, as well as a vegetable garden. We have planted a peach tree in our yard and hauled so much dirt and rocks that it seems that this mountain we live on should be a lot higher now. Soon it will be time to stop and smell the roses. We want to put in some garden benches so we can sit and admire our handiwork. Our preference is stone benches because we know they will last forever and keep their good looks

There is a site that we know of that has some of the best looking stone garden benches we have found, and we will get free shipping. That is worth a lot because stone is heavy and would cost a lot to ship. The website we found is aptly called Stonebenches.com. They have a huge selection of different styles and finishes. There are garden benches, religious stone benches, pet stone benches, and even memorial, family, and inspirational stone benches. Our problem is deciding which one we like best. I like the ones that are carved with figures such as lions heads, but I think my wife will prefer to get matching benches that come with a picnic table.

Shopping online is great. My wife and I both enjoy it a lot. I am glad we discovered Stonebench.com. It will save us a lot of time and money when we get ready to purchase our new stone bench.

Remember Hoyt Axton?

It was Della and the dealer and a dog named Jigs, and a cat named Kalamazoo. Going out West in a pickup truck, gonna make their dreams come true.

The above lines are part of the lyrics of a song by Hoyt Axton and is from the 1980’s I think. The lyrics may not be quite right but close enough. I have no idea what those lines mean and can’t remember the rest of the song. For some reason I play that tune in my head sometimes. I liked Hoyt Axton’s voice, it was deep and resonant. He was an actor in the movie Gremlins and in several other movies as well. He died a few years ago, I think from a heart attack. I just wanted to say a few words about him in remembrance. Hoyt Axton I enjoyed your songs and acting, and we miss you.

Online tutoring available for K-12 and college students

College can be difficult and it seems that there is just not enough time to cover all the bases and get everything done. Wouldn't it be nice if you could afford a tutor to help you along with your Algebra 1 or get some Chemistry help. Well you can, and what is more you can get that help anywhere you have access to the internet, 24/7.  That means you can learn at the time that is most convenient for you and your schedule.

Online tutoring is the answer and Tutornext is where K-12 and college students can find the answers; to math questions. Here is a big shocker for you; there is free math tutoring available. You can take a free session to check out Tutornext before you subscribe. Go ahead, give them your toughest problems and let them show you how capable they are.

This kind of service wasn't available when I was in school but now, thanks to the internet, you can have top notch tutors helping you, at your convenience, without having to deal with the time schedule of a physical tutor. It is a great service and I highly recommend it!

We want to start a new web business

My wife and I are interested in starting a small internet based business. We will have to build a website to show our products and try to make it search engine and user friendly. The object is to let people know about what we have for sale. If people don't know, they can't buy from us. We have some knowledge about the internet and website building but not as much as we need. Some of what we intend to do will be trial and error.

We will have to find a good web host and with our small business we will need budget hosting to save us some cash. Finding the right web host is  important to our site. We will need one that can help us with technical support because of our lack of knowledge. We will probably choose one that has unlimited storage so as our business grows our website can expand to keep up with it.

Hopefully we will get our business going soon. We are excited to have a business of our own and be able to work from home. I am sure that it will take some time to mature and become a thriving business. We expect that and we expect to work hard to make sure that our new venture will be successful.  If we get it going soon I will post it here so all of you can come and visit our new site. Be watching for it!

Why do horror movies fascinate us so much?

Ever wonder why we love horror movies so much? I have. Is it that we cannot help but put ourselves in the place of the pursued, haunted, terrorized victim? Is it because even though we have our civilized society we know that a terrified animal still lurks deep inside us? Do we love scary movies just because we are morbidly curious to see what so much pain, dismemberment, and death look like? Do some of us love horror movies because we wish to be the one causing all the fear and torment? We are, after all, just a hop, skip, and jump away from our own beastly backgrounds. Not so long ago we were carrying clubs, killing for our food and living in caves. For that matter we still kill for our food and live in houses built much like caves. Maybe its not really the victim we root for in the horror movies, maybe its the thrill of the chase we like. Heheheheeeee…..

Superstitious ways to forecast the weather

We have had a very hot summer this year and there are web worms in a lot of our trees. We have a small walnut tree in our yard that is nearly dead from all of the worms and webs covering it.  Now I am wondering what kind of winter we will have. It seems that I remember hearing that a lot of web worms is a sign of a coming bad winter.

Thinking about that made me remember how many weather signs there are for forecasting the severity of winter. Most are probably based upon superstition but some seem to work pretty well. Here are a few that I can remember.

Check out the persimmon seeds. Split some open and in the center if you see the shape of a spoon it means a lot of snow. A knife means ice, and I am not sure what a fork means.

My mother counts the fogs in August. That corresponds directly to the number of snows we will have that winter. It actually seems to work. She is nearly always accurate in her predictions. When everyone else says that winter is over and spring is here mom will sometimes say, “no we have another snow coming”. It nearly always happens the way she says.

One weather sign that I myself use is a halo around the moon. When you see a big ring around the moon, the weather is going to get bad soon. You can pretty much bank on it. The ring is not close to the moon but is a huge circle in the sky with the moon at the center of the circle. Its a weird phenomenon and it means you better store some extra food and candles. Usually there will be snow or ice. Some people say to count the stars inside the circle and that is how many days before bad weather comes.

Sometimes these old weather forecasting signs seem to work better than the high tech equipment that meteorologists use today. Go figure….

You could save a lot on eyeglasses, if your Optician would let you

There is a new trend among Opticians that really sucks. A lot of them refuse to measure your PD (pupil distance) and give you the information. Why? Obviously because they are afraid you might shop for your eyeglasses elsewhere and they won't get all of your money. Is that fair? Of course not but like I said, its a growing trend. I have been reading some discussions about this online and its hard to believe that so many Opticians that are supposedly in business to help others, are so selfish.

Let me explain further. You can order eyeglasses at huge savings online, but you have to have your PD measurement so they know which eyeglasses you need. Opticians know that if they refuse to give you the PD, you have to buy your eyeglasses from them, thus all the money is theirs.

Now let me point out that Opticians are doctors. They are not salesmen and you are not required to purchase from them. Consider that medical doctors don't require you to buy your medical supplies from them; they simply charge you for the diagnosis. Why should it be any different for Opticians? Lets be fair guys! A person has the right to pay for an examination and expect that the findings of that examination belongs to them. Money spent, services paid for, results received. It should be as simple as that!

Stylish watches that get the job done

Frankly I would be lost without my watch. I have worn a watch most of my life and my favorite was a Casio that stored phone numbers and other information. It also had a calculator and many other features. I used it a lot. There are so many different kinds of watches now. There is something for every taste and for every need. Have you seen a new traser h3 watch? Wow, they are nice! They are luminous and will glow for up to twenty years. They have Swiss Quartz and automatic movements and are trusted enough to be used by our armed forces.

I found a website called Blue Dial that is an excellent place to shop for watches. They have practically any brand you can think of and 2nd day free shipping anywhere in the Continental United States. You can order 24 hours per day, toll free. I am impressed with them, as are more than 350,000 other customers.

Blue Dial sells only authentic, brand new watches. There are no replica's or reconditioned watches on their site. You will find famous watch brands such as Swiss Army Watches, Omega, Pulsar, Seiko, Gucci, Invicta, Jules Jurgensen, Casio, Bulova, Citizen, and many more.  You will find watches with any feature you desire, including dive watches and flight watches. Check out Blue Dial online and get ready to save a bundle on a nice watch!

Why do we revere the rich and famous?

Have you ever noticed how people change when they get rich and famous? Suddenly they are a fountain of knowledge, about pretty much any subject you can think of. Does getting rich and famous really cause the brain to grow and expand its store of knowledge? Somehow I think not.

Many people devote most of their lives to chasing rainbows, striving for riches and fame. The few that achieve it seem to be largely miserable. They can't seem to keep a relationship going, stay drug and alcohol free, or even do the most simple tasks without being totally dependent upon others; but when they speak everyone listens.

Why is it human nature to revere people like that? Why do we need heroes, movie stars, music stars, etc etc to worship? It seems to me that the very fact that a person is insecure enough to dedicate his or her life to the pursuit of impressing others and seeking attention should warn us away from them. It doesn't. Instead we envy them and cling to every word they say. It seems to be common belief that anyone we see on tv or read about in the scandal sheets, has a handle to life and knowledge. I think nothing is farther from the truth.

I like to watch documentary's on tv about famous people of long ago. The producers try to research out the true lives of these people and give us insight to their real personalities and deeds. Almost without fail they are nothing like what history says they are. For example, George Washington was a big slave owner and was one of the worst liars around at that time. Some of his fabrications actually were decisive in winning the war and setting our country free. He went down in history as not being able to tell a lie, but I think he had a much harder time with the truth. He also wrote and received love letters from a friend's wife. It seems that the sacred institution of marriage meant little to him. Hmmmm maybe that is what they are talking about when they say he is the father of our country......

Good credit is of vital importance to maintaining quality of life

Sometimes life just isn't fair. We get up and go to work every day, but sometimes that is not enough to keep the wolf from the door. How aggravating it is to lose our good credit rating. When that happens we have problems getting the things we need such as a home, car, medical treatment etc. Sometimes if we do find a way to get what we need we end up paying exorbitant interest rates.

When you lose your good credit standing it is important to improve and fix your credit score. Only then can we live a normal live in the way that we Americans think we need. Good credit repair services are of utmost importance to assist us in getting back our way of life.  If you try to do it all by yourself, get ready for the long haul because it can take many years.

I recommend that you check out thecreditpeople.com. They have more than 50,000 satisfied customers that were having problems just like you. Their service is guaranteed and will save you literally years of frustration and time. They know the laws and how to use them to your advantage. Most of us need to improve our credit score. My wife and I are really concerned about it right now because soon we want to buy a new car, and have a baby!

I love you too!

Our society is not fair

Weekend is finally here! It means a lot to have the time off when we work for a living, and it means even more when we work 6 days per week like I do. I resent the people who are able to work but don’t. Our society is set up to take care of everyone, even the lazy ones who refuse to work for their needs. Like I said, I resent that! I know how everything I have was bought, with my sweat and fatigue. For the lazy ones I say this, “You don’t deserve the special care that our government gives you, you have the right to starve”. My special peeve is that I work everyday but I can’t afford medical insurance, yet it is given to  the ones who won’t work, and the immigrants, both legal and illegal. Where is the fairness in that? Who said that the working American deserves less than the foreigners and lazy ones?

Who makes these laws? Why don’t we the taxpayers get to vote on them? Who has the nerve to say that we Americans, we the proud, the brave, have to pay the way for a bunch of worthless druggies and illegals to have their living handed to them free? Yes I said druggies. I used to work at a HUD subsidized apartment complex and I saw MANY druggies getting free or nearly free housing. I remember how I overheard some of them plotting ways to pass a drug test so they wouldn’t lose their government freebies. The unmitigated gall! What is our pansy government going to do when we all lay down and just quit?  Where will their easy living come from then? They are cut from the same bolt of worthless cloth as the druggies and lazies I am talking about, trash, but high on the social totem pole. That is what our government is. Let them compete with the illegals and druggies for their living when we all stop giving our earnings to them as tax dollars……….

Memories of my life as a student

I remember how we used to have our school lockers to keep our things safe, and a gym locker for Physical Education class. I never stopped to think where our school got the lockers. Now as an adult I realize that those lockers must have cost a lot of money, because there were hundreds of them. It would have been important to our small town school to save money when purchasing the lockers.

Lockers come in many varieties; standard, vented, designer, specialty, etc. Our gym locker room also had benches where we would sit to dress after showering off the grime of playing sports. We had so much fun in Physical Education class. I remember how we used to play football, basketball, foozeball, badminton, volleyball, and we even went bowling sometimes.  Not only did we stay in shape, we also had a blast!

That was many years ago, but I still have so many memories of how the coach let us vote if we wanted to pay outside on a cold day. We nearly always voted yes. When we divided into 2 teams we had the 'shirts' and the 'skins'. That meant that one team got to wear a tee shirt and the other team went bare. We all had shorts on so one team got colder than the other one. I recall how cold we got, but that just made us play harder. So many memories.....

What is high stylin today becomes ridiculous tomorrow

Sometimes it amuses me how fads come and go. What is cool today will be ridiculed tomorrow and what is cool tomorrow won't fare any better the next day. About the time my father was born a cigarette was called a fag. Now that word means something entirely different of course. When I was young gay meant happy and queer meant gay. We had our language in the seventies. Everything was far out or outta sight. Cool is one of the only words that has stayed in vogue for many years. Cool was cool when I was a kid and its still cool today. Groovy meant about the same thing as cool. Sometimes we were freaking out, but later people were chillin. Later those words went out of style and everyone was saying rad to the max or smokin. I am not sure what words are popular now. I can't keep up anymore. About the time I get enough figured out to carry on a lucid conversation with young people the styles change and the young ones give me pitying looks when I try to speak their lingo, then give each other wise knowing nods while pointing at their heads, all to acknowledge how the old man is senile and crazy. Its just not worth it!

Its the same with clothes. I am proud to say that I still have several pairs of old bell bottom jeans left over from my young days. I think I can still wear some of them, but if I did I would be the talk of the town for certain! Bell bottoms went out and straight leg jeans came in. Remember the sweat pants era? No matter where you went everyone was wearing sweats, both pants and shirt if weather permitted. Some people actually looked good in them, but some made the sweats look like over-strained spandex. I hated the red ones. Name brand clothes don't mean a thing to me but to a lot of people they do. Anyone can stick their name on clothes but from my experience that doesn't give the clothes even one extra day of wear, make them more comfortable, or in most cases any more stylish. All it does is make them more expensive. I have never understood the logic in that.

Hair. Good gosh, hair! We have had some of the most gosh-awful hairstyles to come and go. Everything from the hippie hip length unisex hair, to the skinheads. Punk'd hair, mohawks, hair dyed all colors of the rainbow, shaved on the sides and long on top. Some of the styles were frankly a little scary. Some were hilarious, and some were just fashion statements that backfired.

Now we have people making a “statement” by piercing their bodies and wearing weird objects implanted in various parts of their anatomy. I am not sure exactly what statement they are making but I could make an educated guess. “I am nuts and love to hurt myself” would probably be my number one choice. If that one failed I would likely go with “This is the only way I can think of to get refused on all job interviews and keep my food stamps and welfare”. Who knows, maybe I am wrong and all that self inflicted pain and suffering really do have a deep  (and hidden) meaning. I see one possible benefit from the bodily inserted metallic objects. If husbands and wives had strong magnets inserted under their skin perhaps the divorce rate might go down. That is unless they used the repelling poles. That would be just my luck!

Its fun to stop sometimes and remember how much things change, but a lot of the old fads come back eventually, such as the short neat haircuts of the 50's. I wonder if bell bottoms for men will ever be in high style again. Hmmmmm, if so I will be prepared......

Our packaged food won't keep a bug alive

I am tired! I must need some vitamins. It seems that I am never completely rested and energetic like I used to be. Could age have anything to do with that? I think I need vitamin B-12 in massive quantities. Maybe an IV hooked up to me at night would do the trick. Or maybe just a few good nights of sleep and no work would help.

Seriously, I am not alone in this. It seems that people just don't have the energy and drive that we used to have. Even kids often don't want to play physically. I know we are fat and spoiled, but I think we are also vitamin defficient from all the non-organic foods we eat. Have you noticed how even bugs don't bother most of our packaged food. Compare that to years ago when flour got weevils and anything left out of the frig was at risk of being inhabited by unwanted guests. Its sad when our food doesn't even have enough vitamins to keep a bug alive....... I wonder if the bugs feel tired too if they eat our food........

New curtains and drapes will rejuvenate your home

One of the best things you can do to give any room more style is to install new curtains. It is a sure fire way to add beauty and elegance to your home. You can work with a professional decorator but let me warn you, the prices are exorbitant to say the least. It is much better if you find curtains or drapes that you like and install them yourself. You can save literally thousands of dollars, and end up with as good or better quality than if you had used the high priced professional.

I have done some research on where to get the best deals and highest quality on curtains, drapes, and hardware for installation. There is an online site called Curtainworks that has a huge selection to choose from. Buy 2 items and save 10%. Its that easy but you have to order before 8/24/2010. Oh I know what you are thinking. You think you will save money on the order but lose it on shipping the order to your home. Guess again, there is always free shipping on orders of $100 or more. You can choose from many colors, styles, classic combinations, and even tailored curtains.

Any home or office will look rejuvenated and stylish when you put in the right curtains or drapes. When you buy new furniture or carpet is a good time to also replace curtains and drapes to match. Here is an idea for you. You just might save enough by not using the professional decorator to get part or all of the furniture.

Guard your family against unexpected tragedies

Life insurance has been called "the ultimate unselfish act". I agree with that and I want to get some life insurance on myself to keep my wife safe in the event of my death. I can't decide whether I should just go with accident insurance or if I should go the whole route and insure myself against sickness also.

Another important thing I am considering is income insurance.  We all have our lifestyle that we are used too and if something suddenly happened to our income our lives would change drastically. I am getting older and these things are on my mind more and more. My wife is young and she needs to be protected if something happens to me.

No matter where you live you should give thought to buying protective insurance for your loved ones. Whether you need insurance here in America, or even life insurance Australia, leaving your family with the means of maintaining their lifestyle is of paramount importance. Another important thing to consider is funeral insurance. When I leave this world I want to go with a smile, knowing that I have left my family safe and secure.

Amazing Grace

Who wrote the song Amazing Grace? John Newton wrote it between 1760 and 1770. The song is very old, much older than I at first realized. On a trip to the Philippines last year I attended a small country church with my wife. She begged me to sing Amazing Grace for the congregation. I finally accepted and sung what I knew, in spite of my jumping nerves. Surprisingly everyone seemed to know the song. I had no idea that it was popular so far away from this country.

Over the years other writers have composed additional verses to Amazing Grace, and in fact Amazing Grace was not the original name of the hymn. It is thought that perhaps some verses of some of Newtons other hymns were added to the song. Regardless, the six stanzas below were what appeared in the first edition of the Olney Hymns, near the date of Newton’s death. Enjoy the lyrics, it is one of my favorite songs.

Amazing grace! (how sweet the sound)
That sav’d a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev’d;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ’d!

Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis’d good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call’d me here below,
Will be forever mine.

I accidentally ran over a rattlesnake today

I was driving up our country road this morning, long before daylight, going to work, and for some reason I had snakes on my mind. In fact I have had snakes on my mind for the last couple of weeks. I am scared witless of snakes and this is the time of year that the locals call Dog Days. It is said that snakes are blind during Dog Days and will strike at anything that moves. Well my hunch paid off this morning. I rounded a corner, and there was a rattlesnake laying right in the road.

What could I do, I “accidentally” ran over him! Then I backed up to see if I had “accidentally” hit him with my tire, and when I drove off again I accidentally ran over him again. I was so ashamed of my driving. Before I finally went on to work I had accidentally ran over that snake 6 times! Supposedly rattlesnakes are protected by the game and fish commission but when one is laying right in the road, on a corner, they are hard to miss heheheee. Oh well, on a positive note maybe the children that live in the nearby house won’t get bitten now by a protected dangerous reptile, and I think my driving has improved….

What a hot muggy summer this has been

Thank goodness our hot weather is supposed to break soon. Today the temperature is forcast to be 100 degrees and the same or hotter for the next couple of days. Finally this weekend we are expecting some rain and cooler temperatures!

It will feel like winter to us if the temperature really does get down into the 80’s like they say it will. This has been the most miserable summer we have had in a long time. The temperature has been super hot and the humidity is terrible. My wife is from the Philippines which is hot and tropical with loads of humidity, but even she has complained about how hot and muggy it is here this year. It all makes me wonder what this winter will be like…….

It is possible to survive Mesothelioma

I personally have never had cancer, but other members of my family have. I remember the feeling of fear and dread that we might lose one of our family. I actually did lose my father to cancer a few years ago. One of the most dreaded cancers is mesothelioma. It is considered to be caused by exposure to asbestos.

Many people have been knowingly or unknowingly exposed to asbestos in their lifetime. Electricians, plumbers, members of the navy that have spent time on ships, pipefitters, the list goes on and on, are at a risk for developing mesothelioma cancer.

If you have or know someone that has mesothelioma I have some good news for you. There is now a free book called Surviving Mesothelioma that is available for your reading. It was written by Paul Kraus who was himself a victim of the dreaded cancer. Paul survived mesothelioma and is still living today. His book is not designed to diagnose or to treat, it is simply good information to help you with your struggle. I urge you to read this book and share Paul's experiences with mesothelioma, and find out how he survived to tell the tale.

Installing new tiles will make your home look fabulous!

What better way to make your home look stylish and practical than to put in some new tiles.  No matter whether you are building a new home or remodeling your old one you need to put high quality tiles to make it look perfect. I want to install some new tiles in our kitchen, behind the counter so it will be easier to clean. We also want to put in some new bathroom tiles to give the room a clean fresh look.

I found a site called Glass Tile Store that has tiles for all purposes and occasions. You and your web business will be glad you did!

How its made just provided me with the answer to all our problems!

I enjoy watching “How its Made” on tv. Some of the everyday items we take for granted utilize a very involved process to produce. I had no idea how toothpicks were made. I envisioned small elves with small wood turning lathes making toothpicks one at at time. I was surprised to learn that there are no elves involved. Now I am watching them make a helicopter. Its just time filler though. I am really not interested in helicopters. I am killing time until the next segment that will show how they make beer hehehee.

p

They say that our nation is a consumer nation but watching How its Made has taught me that we do still have some skills. Perhaps we should take more pride in ourselves as a nation and a people, lose some weight, and use our spare time to produce even more to sell other countries. We might eventually pay off our national debt, or buy a new government, or if all that fails we can just use the extra labor as exercise to get rid of the excess pounds most of us are carrying…..

Make your website more efficient with Vancouver Web Design

If you have a website of your own you probably have something for sale, or information that you want to share with others. It seems that most of the knowledge of our world is now on the internet and easily accessible. In years past it often took a lot of work to research a topic, often involving trips to a library and spending hours or days looking through piles of books or manuscripts. Now people are used to having all that information right at their fingertips, and our attention span is shortened to the point that we expect things much faster than before.

That is why having good web design is so important. You want web surfers to find what they want on your site as soon as possible. Vancouver Web Design  knows all the ways to set up a website to give your visitors what they want, when they want it. The navigation and architecture of a site is of utmost importance and often makes the difference of whether your site visitor stays or leaves to search on another site. Simplicity is the key so your visitors don't get lost or frustrated. Getting visitors to your site is necessary, but keeping them there until they find what they are looking for is vital.

They provide articles and specs on most cars, such as the Chrysler 300  or the Dodge Viper .  The articles are informative and will give you all the information you need to make a wise choice.
Is the Hyundai Azera more your line, or are you more into the offroad abilities and room of the Hummer H2? You can decide after you read the ratings. See how others feel about the cars you are interested in, make your decision based on that, then use The Car Connection to help you find the best deal on either new or used cars. They can also help you find the best financing offers and insurance! The Car Connection is your one stop car shop.

You can save a lot of time and money by shopping and comparing online. My wife and I now do nearly all of our major shopping on the internet. It is more secure, quicker, and it saves gasoline and gives us the best selection at the lowest prices. We are considering buying a new car sometime in the next year or 2. We will check out The Car Connection to see what is best for us. There is a wealth of car information on their site. Go take a look!

Its time to buy a new top of the line mailbox for our property

My wife and I want to buy a new mailbox for our property. At first we had no idea where to look for custom mailboxes  but being the good web surfers that we are we soon thought to look online. Voila! We found exactly what we are looking for, personalized mailboxes of high quality and in many styles and materials.

Whitehall Mailboxes come with more than 65 years of experience and wow, the mailboxes they sell would be an attribute to any property. Not only can we get the custom mailbox we want, we can also get the mailbox post and a new address plaque.

Whitehall has mailboxes for single or multiple units, and they come with wall mount or post mount. Locking mailboxes are available and you will even find curbside decor, drop boxes, and mailbox components. Take this opportunity to spruce up your property, like my wife and I are. Go check out Whitehall and get in style!

Life is so easy that we are spoiled rotten

I am a former semi-professional musician. I have been playing music for more than 40 years and have spent countless hours practicing and enjoying my craft. I have always taken great pride in the fact that I endured and persevered until I became a pretty good musician. A few years back a friend and I were playing music in his shop building and he hooked up a small keyboard. It was probably worth less than $100 and was bought in a department store. I was amazed when he punched a few buttons and the keyboard started playing on its own! It played every instrument and did it perfectly. Frankly it could play circles around me and never made a mistake. I remember thinking at the time that it didn't seem fair that something so cheap and insignificant could so easily beat me after all my years of practice. It was an introduction to how far technology has come and how easy things are nowadays.

It started me thinking. We have entertainment brought right into our homes via tv and video games. We have all of the worlds information at our fingertips with computers and internet. Experts teach us that we are not really responsible for our actions, our debts, or even the welfare of our families if we don't want to be. I kept thinking and it came to my mind that maybe we are not so lucky as we think. Maybe with these blessings come curses. Curses of laziness, ineptitude, carelessness, loss of moral values, etc etc. Instead of using modern technology to better our lives, we use it instead to give us more time to think of ways to do nothing. We teach it to our kids too. Its like we give them a handbook at birth "How to live your life without trying".

Don't get me wrong, I love tv, computers, video games, and most of the other technology that is so fun and interesting. I am an addict just like most other people. On the other hand I work every day. I still read books. I took the time, many years, to learn to play guitar and bass guitar. I am a doer and I use what I learn on tv and internet to help me along, to accomplish more. I am sure that I am not alone in that but truly we have a lazy spoiled society that expects handouts, easy living, and low responsibility. Where will it end? Unfortunately probably like the Roman society of long ago. We will probably get so spoiled that we will ruin it all and future generations may be back out in the fields, toiling in the sun for their food......

Tutoring is now available online 24/7

When I was in school I often needed math help because my skills in that subject were lacking. It seemed that my interest was all on other subjects and my math ability suffered for it. English I could do, Science I could do, but math problems were exactly that, problems, and sometimes insurmountable for me.

That was long ago and my family could not afford a personal tutor for me, so I was left pretty much to my own devices to get my homework finished. If I was in school now it would be much more simple because its easy to get homework help.

Even better than that, you can get help right in your home and without having a personal tutor. How is that possible you ask? There is a service called Tutor Vista that will provide you with online tutors 24/7 so they are always available at your convenience. The cost is right and you can even get answers free! Tutor Vista is the leading online tutoring company in the world, providing unlimited service. Why didn't we have this kind of technology and service when I was in school, it would have made my life a lot easier!

Good inventory software is vital for great business performance

A few years ago I worked in an office and was responsible for keeping up with the maintenance inventory and budget. It was a relatively small business but sometimes it was a nightmare trying to keep everything straight. At first it was done manually on paper forms, but eventually we got into the computer age and got some software that would help us with the inventory. That made my job much easier. I could imagine how hard it must be to manage an inventory in a large business where there might be thousands or tens of thousands of parts to keep up with. It would take a very sophisticated but simple to use software to get it done.
That made me realize just how important choosing the right inventory software is. The best software would have attributes such as market leadership, a short implementation cycle, simple easy customization, latest database technology, and flexible financing. It would be user friendly and give a high return on investment.
There is inventory software that meets that description and will fulfill all of your inventory needs. Simms Inventory Management Software has more than a decade of experience, with many organizations, and in many different industry fields. Check them out and let them show you how much more efficient and simple your inventory work can be.

Scrubs can be stylish

My sister is a scrub nurse, which means that she works in the surgery unit at a local hospital. She is the one like you see on tv that the doctor will say "scalpel" and she hands it to him. She is kind of the keeper of the surgery tools.  She used to work in an open heart surgery unit in a big city hospital but eventually moved to a small town hospital. Of course when she is on the job she has to wear scrubs to prevent the spreading of germs and bacteria.

Its important to keep the surgical environment completely germ free, and wearing medical scrubs is only one of the precautions that are taken by the staff. You have probably seen the doctors and nurses on tv washing their hands and arms for what seems to be a long time and even using a brush to make sure that they are sanitary and germ free.

Of course the doctors and nurses in surgery can't forget to cover their hair. For this they use scrub hats. Its all part of the master design to make sure that they can perform surgery, which entails actually opening up the human body, and then closing off the wound, all without introducing foreign bacteria that might complicate the healing process. I think some of the scrub uniforms look nice, and now they even come in designer fashions. The medical field is one of necessity and also of great interest to me. I have considered going into a medical based job myself. A secret desire of mine is to be a nurse, or specialist someday. Maybe an x-ray tech or respiratory therapist... Hmmmm maybe someday I will.

Jet Lag

For those of you who have suffered from jet lag before what I am going to tell you will come as no surprise. Jet lag is no fun! It seems that our bodies have internal clocks that tell us when we need to be asleep and when we need to be awake, etc. When we travel and end up in a different time zone it messes up that internal clock so our bodies and brains get disoriented. It can cause several symptoms such as sleeplessness or disorientation.

I recall a trip to the Philippines a few years ago. My trip took longer than expected because of a lay-over in Hong Kong, and by the time I finally got to Manila I had been awake for about 1 1/2 days with no sleep. Surprisingly I didn't sleep a wink that night, or the next day. The next night I only slept for a couple of hours. It wasn't until the third night that I finally got a decent amount of sleep. What was astonishing is that I wasn't really tired. Their time is about 13 hours ahead of time here so the middle of the night there was the middle of the previous day here. Pretty confusing, and my body and mind thought so as well. I did soon get attuned to the new time and was fine, but jet lag can last for days, or even weeks. I was lucky. One rule of thumb for jet lag is that for every hour of time change, you will suffer 1 day of jet lag. If that rule had held up in my case I would have had jet lag for 2 weeks!

I don't understand why page rank fluctuates so much

Today I checked my email inbox and lo and behold I had 4 blogging opportunities from a blogging site that I had forgotten about joining long ago. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I signed into my blog and, once again lo and behold, I now have a page rank of 4! I can't figure out Google sometimes. After months of hard work and a page rank of 3 I signed in one day and it was all gone. I had no page rank, and for months afterward I had none. I finally gave up and stopped posting on the blog, now after practically no activity on my blog I have a good rank. Nothing has changed and I just don't understand. I probably never will but I am happy to have my rank back. Now I can earn some extra money and maybe buy the new gun I am craving for my birthday heheheheee.

For you my friendly reader let me tell you that the only thing I really did to change my blog, and it was long ago, was to add another page with a long informative article. I have no idea if it helped or not but something did. Now I am paranoid that I will sign into my blog in a few days and find my page rank gone again. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh well, I am used to it lol.

Search engine optimisation

Search engine optimisation! Its the key to getting your site noticed and increasing the number of visitors. It is probably the most important thing you can do to increase sales or commissions from your site. Lets suppose that you have a website with products listed for sale. These products are useful, and you know that many people will want to purchase them, but you have a problem; the products are there, they are useful, the price is right, but you get little if any business. Why does this happen?

It happens because people simply do not know about your site. That is where search engine optimisation comes in. There are two kinds of search engine optimisation. In site and off site. In site is most often edited so it contains keywords that search engines will target. Off site is dedicated to improving your page authority so your site will come up in the top five searches relating to your page content.

What it amounts to is that when you get news of your products out so people will find them in their searches, your products will sell. For example, would you put in a large car lot at the end of a road that is rarely traveled? Of course not, you want your car lot right where the most people can see it. More traffic means more sales. Search engine optimisation is the way to put your site on the main road, that a lot of people travel. Then the amount of visitors will increase, and so will your sales.
