We had a wonderful vacation

My wife and I have been on vacation for the last week and a half. We had a wonderful time. We went to St Louis and met some of my wife’s family there. It was the first time my wife had seen her oldest sister in about 13 years, and her other sister in 7 or 8 years. We all went to Six Flags and split the day between the main park and the water park, Hurricane Harbor. Ana, the older sister came home with us and spent a couple of days before she had to return to Detroit. I spent 2 nights in a hotel in St Louis with my wife, her sister Ana, and their mother. There was a lot of joking and giggling going on. I wish I had a video of it all. The girls were teasing their mother that I might slip into bed with her in the middle of the night. It was making her kind of mad lol.

We took a lot of pictures, and made a lot of unforgettable memories. The picture above is my mother in law, wife, sis Nora, and sis Ana. They are all beautiful ladies. I also got to meet Roger, my bro in law, married to Nora. He is a super guy and we had a lot of fun together. Hope all of you had a good holiday. Tomorrow it’s back to work!

Hope our weather is finally getting better

This has been the driest and hottest summer already that I can remember. Last summer was hot and dry also but this year the grass on our lawn is dead. Just a lot of nearly bare dirt showing. I don’t know what the rest of the year will bring, but yesterday we finally got a small shower of rain. Today it’s cooler and it feels so good and refreshing. The air is not full of heat and dust like it has been. We have chances of rain for the next couple of days; I hope we get a lot. My wife and I have been watering our garden from our small pond, but the pond is getting very low on water too. The garden has been difficult this year; first it was the deer that kept eating it at night while we slept, then it was the heat and dryness. We finally built a fence about 8 feet tall around the garden and kept the deer out. They had already butchered a lot of the plants, but most of them are re-growing now. We just had some stir fry made from our fresh veggies. Pretty yummy. It was so dry here that fireworks were banned. I didn’t see or hear even one firecracker go off.

Handicapped equipped vans can make life much easier

If you are disabled, or know someone who is, you know just how difficult even the smallest tasks can become if you don't have the proper equipment. It's important to give handicapped people every chance we can to make their lives easier and more productive. One of the most important things is to ensure proper transportation, which in most cases would include vans for handicapped.

Having spent some time with handicapped people I know first hand just how much more simple it is to have a van equipped with a wheelchair lift and all of the proper contrivances to enable easy loading and unloading. It makes the old way of having to physically lift the handicapped person obsolete.

Quality of life is everything. I always try to remember that it's not the number of breaths that we take, it's the number of things we experience that takes our breath away. That rule applies to handicapped people as well as healthy people. Being able to travel more easily in a specially equipped handicap van is just one of many ways to make our "special" people happier.

Writers block and a black bear

I seem to have hit a brick wall in my writing lately. Now I know what it means when a professional writer gets stagnant and can’t write for a period of time. I used to be full of ideas and couldn’t wait to get home so I could write about them. Now I am blank and nothing seems worthy to write about. Every time I work hard and get my page rank up, Google comes along and cuts it for no apparent reason. A few months later my rank will come back, even if I don’t change anything on my blog. It’s discouraging and I wish Google would come up with some definite rules to judge page rank, instead of letting their idiot crawler run rampant destroying the value of people’s hard work.

On a happier note, I am glad that it’s spring. The weather here is wonderful this week; cool nights and warm days. My wife has planted a garden and it’s growing well. Soon we should have some fresh veggies and peaches from our peach tree. It’s loaded with fruit this year. Hopefully it won’t all get eaten by insects. We built a fence around our garden this year to keep out the wild animals, such as deer.

Speaking of wild animals, I seen a bear on the way home from work today. it ran across the highway and the car in front of me nearly hit it. Since there wasn’t any cars behind me I stopped and said “hello big boy” to it. The bear turned and looked at me, then went on off through the woods. Pretty neat, but I have seen many bears in the past, and have had several here in the yard. A couple of young ones climbed trees when our dog barked at them. I love living in the country!
