Jet Lag

For those of you who have suffered from jet lag before what I am going to tell you will come as no surprise. Jet lag is no fun! It seems that our bodies have internal clocks that tell us when we need to be asleep and when we need to be awake, etc. When we travel and end up in a different time zone it messes up that internal clock so our bodies and brains get disoriented. It can cause several symptoms such as sleeplessness or disorientation.

I recall a trip to the Philippines a few years ago. My trip took longer than expected because of a lay-over in Hong Kong, and by the time I finally got to Manila I had been awake for about 1 1/2 days with no sleep. Surprisingly I didn't sleep a wink that night, or the next day. The next night I only slept for a couple of hours. It wasn't until the third night that I finally got a decent amount of sleep. What was astonishing is that I wasn't really tired. Their time is about 13 hours ahead of time here so the middle of the night there was the middle of the previous day here. Pretty confusing, and my body and mind thought so as well. I did soon get attuned to the new time and was fine, but jet lag can last for days, or even weeks. I was lucky. One rule of thumb for jet lag is that for every hour of time change, you will suffer 1 day of jet lag. If that rule had held up in my case I would have had jet lag for 2 weeks!

I don't understand why page rank fluctuates so much

Today I checked my email inbox and lo and behold I had 4 blogging opportunities from a blogging site that I had forgotten about joining long ago. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I signed into my blog and, once again lo and behold, I now have a page rank of 4! I can't figure out Google sometimes. After months of hard work and a page rank of 3 I signed in one day and it was all gone. I had no page rank, and for months afterward I had none. I finally gave up and stopped posting on the blog, now after practically no activity on my blog I have a good rank. Nothing has changed and I just don't understand. I probably never will but I am happy to have my rank back. Now I can earn some extra money and maybe buy the new gun I am craving for my birthday heheheheee.


For you my friendly reader let me tell you that the only thing I really did to change my blog, and it was long ago, was to add another page with a long informative article. I have no idea if it helped or not but something did. Now I am paranoid that I will sign into my blog in a few days and find my page rank gone again. Ohhhhhhhhhhhh well, I am used to it lol.

Independence Day and we have enjoyed it!

Today is Independence Day and a time to remember how we won our freedom. We didn’t really do a lot but last night we set off a few inexpensive fireworks and enjoyed them as much as if they were expensive. My wife and I giggled and played like two small kids.

Today we built a fire outside and put the grille on it. We marinated some chicken wings in our special homemade sauce and slow cooked them on the coals of the fire. I mixed 2 different kinds of barbecue sauce that we like and then added some ingredients of my own. It was absolutely fabulous! Yummy! My wife cooked some eggs and eggplant, along with various and sundry herbs and veggies. Its kind of like an omelet done Philippine style and its good!  We had mashed potatoes with all that and it was good enough to make ya want to slap yo mama. We love to cook like that. Now we are sitting here in the house trying to recuperate. I probably won’t get to watch any firework displays tonight because I have to go to bed early. We start work at 4:00am now. Anyway it has been a wonderful weekend and I hope yours was as good!

We had a good time at Silver Dollar City

Our vacation is nearly over now but wow, what a great time we had! We spent 3 days and nights in Branson Missouri and one of those days was at Silver Dollar City theme park. We rode a lot of the rides, and went on the Marvel Cave tour that evening to cool off. We rode Wildfire, which is a rollercoaster that makes 3 loops, and we loved it! I have ridden it before but it was the first time for my wife.

Yesterday we mixed and poured a concrete pad for our future water storage tank to sit on. We got overheated and that plus the hard work nearly did us in. Today we are just laying around in the air conditioning, trying to recover. Next week it is back to work, but at least it is supposed to be cooler. I think I need to get back to work so I can get some rest!

Back in business

Finally, after much work and devising, we are back in the egg business. I have built many nests of varying descriptions but the chickens won't have anything to do with any of them. Instead they creep around behind the nests in a small dark place and lay their eggs in the floor. We put some straw there and its fine with us if they want to lay there. We are just glad that finally after all of our hard work, we have eggs to eat and sell. We have learned a lesson. Hens want dark small places to lay their eggs. We tried keeping the chicken house dim but that wasn't enough. The nest itself needs to be pretty dark, not just dim.

We have been averaging more and more eggs per day and yesterday we got 17. Now we have to figure out what to do when we go on vacation. We will be gone for 3 or 4 days and the eggs won't get collected for all that time. We are also trying to figure a way to give the chickens enough feed to last for that time. As for water we will just fill up many containers including 5 gallon buckets that they can drink out of. I am afraid that leaving the eggs for that long will get the hens started eating them again, but we have little choice. Anyway, its going well now and we are keeping our fingers crossed that it will last.
