The Green Police are fun, but their job is important
The Glastonbury Festival is an event that is lots of fun, but there has to be rules even at fun events. Thats where the Green Police come in. They walk about the grounds dressed in fun and sometimes sexy costumes helping to keep order. They are looking for recruits right now so if you would like to be one of them, click this link for a Green Police application. Their accomplishments include helping to keep the amount of litter down by encouraging people to pick it up, put it in a trash can or recycle. They also prevent people from urinating in the hedgerows and water, make sure that people don't throw their cigarette butts down at random, etc. The Green Police also help greatly in the prevention of violence and they teach respect for our earth and wildlife. They use humour, accurate information, and even sexiness to get their point across. In short they keep things disciplined but they do it in a fun way.
The Green Police do a great job but they need your help. Go check them out at the link above and if you would like to be one of them they can use your assistance. Help the keep the Glastonbury Festival clean and green. Being one of the Green Police is fun, creative, and different, but the message they carry is dead serious. Not often can we get a job that is earth changing, interesting, and downright fun! Go take a look and you may decide that you would like to be one of them!

Big ice storm on the way
Oh noooooooo. Tonight our forcast is giving a large amount of freezing rain and sleet Tomorrow is snow all day. I don't mind the snow much but freezing rain sucks! One year ago we had a huge ice storm. The biggest in the history of our state. The electric power went off and I sat in the dark for 16 days. Have you ever had to go with no electricity for that long? Let me tell you that it is awful. I had no tv, no computer, no lights, no water, and very little patience lol. When the power finally came on I was so accustomed to being in the dark that for a few days afterwards I would go around in the house and forget to turn on the lights. How silly!
What made it even worse is that of course exactly at that time I got notice that my wife, who lived in the Philippines at that time, was scheduled for her visa interview in Manila. I had to plan for all of that, the medical exam, book my flight over and hers back with me, get hotels, etc etc, and all with no electricity. Somehow I pulled it off and got it all done. I am hoping that this storm that is coming now will not cut off the power like last year, but I am afraid it will. If you don't see any new posts on this blog for awhile thats why.
Everyone take care and God bless you all, have a great weekend!!!
Saddle up for the Houston Rodeo!
I grew up on a farm, and horses and livestock were part of my everyday life. I still live on a small farm and we have some animals. One of the most exciting things I can remember is going to rodeo's, and one of the most exciting rodeos is the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show. How I would love to go to that one! Maybe someday I will get too. One of the most entertaining and unique things about the Houston Rodeo is that after every day of rodeo events is over, a stage is moved into the center of the rodeo ring and there are live music performances. Not just any performers, but the top names in many music genres; country, rock, hip hop, even latin!
If you would like to purchase some Houston Rodeo concert tickets just click on the link and take a look. Bon Jovi has been there, so has George Strait, Alan Jackson, ZZ Top, Faith Hill, Toby Keith, Beyonce, Maze, Tim McGraw, and many more. Check out the "action seats". They are the most prized seats available and include complimentary food and beverages. If you are a rodeo fan like I am, you owe it to yourself to take a look. The Houston Rodeo will leave you with memories that will last for a lifetime!

The Real Estate Stimulus Bill will help you buy your new home!
If you are looking to buy a new home I have some good news for you. Our Government is giving tax credits of up to $8000 to first time home buyers, or to people who have not owned a home in the last three years. Now it has also been extended to include homeowners who wish to move on after five years of living in their current property. This tax credit is called the Real Estate Stimulus and its aimed at getting our economy moving again. This program has been extended through April 2010. All contracts will have to be written by June 10, 2010.
Real estate is 21% of the gross domestic product in this country and has been the tool that has led our country out of every major downturn and recession since the 1950's. Every time a home is sold it creates 1 job for the next 12 months. You can see how important it is to our economy that we get the real estate market moving along. Thats what our government is working toward and its the reason for this stimulus. Check out the video and click on the link above and learn more. I have 2 friends that are taking advantage of this already, and it helped them a lot to be able to buy a new home for themselves.

Full moons, do they change our behavior?
Ever notice that when the moon is full your emotions change and things seem to go wrong more? It happens too often to be circumstantial. I have observed myself and the guys I work with for many years, and every time the moon is full our moods go sour and the equipment seems to give us more trouble. I think that people have been observant of this phenomenom for many years. Perhaps thats why we have stories of werewolfs coming out on the full moon. It seems to be a good time for murder.
So what does the full moon really do? There are a lot of skeptics that say it does nothing at all. Some of those skeptics did some research in Dade County, Miami over a 15 year period. They were very surprised to find that the rate of murders rose and fell with the changing of the moon, and it was nearly infallible over the entire 15 year period. To make sure it wasn't just a fluke they did the experiment again in Cuyahoga County in Ohio. Once again the murder rate fluctuated right along with the changing of the moon. Other reports have shown that surgery patients have 82% more bleeding crises during the full moon than at a new moon.
The very word "Lunatic" is derived from "lunar", which means moon. So what happens that causes so much change when our moon is full? The full moon causes an increased positive ion level and our hormones react to it. That leads to a lot of emotional changes such as depression, hyperactivity, road rage, violent behavior, and even increased asthma attacks and migraines. Even bees will sting more readily during that time. In some of the Middle East countries judges are more lenient if a crime is committed during a time when positive ion winds are stronger.
About 3 out of 4 people react favorably to increased negative ions but surprisingly the rest react in just the opposite way. They get happy and euphoric on high ion days and bored on low ion days.
A full moon happens when the moon is on the opposite side of the earth from the sun. Actually most of the scientific community still believe that a full moon doesn't change our behavior. They say that the studies that show otherwise are inconsistent. Well maybe, but my own private studies show otherwise. I know that my own mood often goes bad during a full moon. I know that things seem somewhat out of control and it seems that trouble abounds during a full moon. Sometimes it gets so bad that I want to grow hair all over my body, get some big teeth, howl at the white circle above, and go hunting..........

Save water and our future at the same time
My friends, I am going to give you a tip on how you can save money, but also how you can save something that is more precious than money. Its something that our world is gradually losing day by day. I am talking about water. Not just any water but water that is pure enough to be inside our plumbing and our homes. We are using up our fresh water resources as exorbitantly and unthinkingly as we use everything else. Its important that we pause now and start making a change in our lifestyles before its too late.
So how can we do that? One of the best ways to save water is also one of the most simple. Just install a Dual Flush Toilet from Select A Flush. In case you are not familiar with what dual flush toilets do, they give you 2 ways to flush. One is just a rinse flush and uses a small amount of water. If you need a bigger flush you can use the full flush. Its as easy as which way you pull the handle.
It doesn't sound like much to save water does it? Well it is much. It will save a family of 4 about 18,000 gallons per year. Enough to fill a swimming pool! It will also save enough money to quickly pay for the conversion. After that the savings are all yours to pocket. If you would like to learn more check out Low Flow Toilets and get an education about our water resources and how to make them last.
Check out the dual flush conversion kits. They are easy to install and you will be amazed at how much water they save. Take a look at the blog on the Select A Flush site. Read the informative articles and learn more about converting your toilet to Dual Flush. Lets all get together and take care of this planet so it will still be great and habitable for our children and grandchildren!
Get some tickets for the National Finals Rodeo
One of my fondest childhood memories is when my family would go to the big rodeo that is held yearly in a nearby town. I remember especially the clowns and the bullriding. My father loved rodeos and just about anything to do with horses. That local rodeo was just one step that cowboys make toward their goal of getting to compete in the National Finals Rodeo.
The NFR is the pinnacle that cowboys strive for. Its for only the very best cowboys with the highest scores, and its an event that everyone should see. These cowboys are the top athletes in their field and the competition will be exciting. This year the NFR will be at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you like rodeos then check out NFR Tickets Craigslist. You can buy your tickets securely online from a site that has sold millions of tickets since 1979. Rodeos are a family event that will create priceless memories for you and your family, just like the ones I have of my childhood. Take a look, buy some tickets, get some cotton candy and funnel cakes, and have the time of your life!

Why do we have so many diseases running wild?
I have been wondering a lot why so many people are sick with things like depression and Alzheimers. A doctor once told me that they give out more medicine for depression than for any other illness. I personally suffer from it sometimes and so does my wife. Depression is like a huge dark cloud that conceals everything joyful. I have no idea what causes it, and there seems to be no cure. Another doctor told me that depression is like a series of windows going by and they are dark. Finally a window comes by that is lighted and we can see the world, but then here come the dark ones again. That is a good definition of depression. Now if they could just find a cure....
One of my friends was recently diagnosed with Alzheimers, one of my favorite aunts also has it, and a local businessman had to close his store because of it. Why so many? I know of many people that suffer from that terrible mind munching disease. Once again there is no known cure, but the effects of the disease are terrible; both to the victim, and to family and friends.
There are of course many more diseases on the loose and I can't help but wonder what causes them. It seems that some of them become more prevalent every year. Could it be the food we eat, or the air we breathe? Maybe we will never know. Maybe we will all become mindless zombies before we can discover a cure. My mind is nearly gone already,,, but tomorrow is Friday!!!!
Finally, a site that makes it easy to find your destination
Ever go on a trip, and when you arrive in a new town you have trouble locating a good hotel? It has happened to all of us, but it doesn't ever have to happen again. There is a website called Just Click Local that will let you do local searches online. Lets suppose that you are in Atlanta, GA and you are looking for a certain business. All you have to do is go to Just Click Local, type in the name of the business you are looking for and the name of the city and state, hit the 'find it' button, and voila! There it is!
It works the same in Buffalo, NY and in St. Louis, MO. No matter where you are you can get the information you need. I just did a search for a company in my town and found it easily. The search results gave me a detailed map right to the business I asked for. I also got an added listing of some other nearby businesses that are associated with it. On the sidebar there is a list of nearby cities and related searches. Wow! so much information, and all done in just a few seconds.
Every one of us will find Just Click Local very useful. It can save you a lot of wasted time, gasoline, and bother. There is no need to drive fruitlessly, searching for a destination that seems impossible to find. Just Click Local will help you find it in a jiffy! Go to their site and check them out, then bookmark their site so you will have it when you need it.
Hope my wife will buy this watch for me
Nothing says "I love you" like a nice watch. My wife is from the Philippines and our relationship was carried on halfway around the world from each other for nearly 3 years. One of the first gifts I sent to her was a watch. When I went to the Philippines to visit her and her family I bought all of them watches as gifts. I remember when I was a child and my parents bought my first watch. I was so happy and I wore that watch for several years. I thought it would never wear out. It was a Bulova. That watch convinced me that one of the best watches in the world is a Bulova because it lasted so long even though I was a child playing rough games.
Bulova is still one of the nicest and longest lasting watches you can get. I love the Bulova chronograph watches . Maybe my wife will get me one for my birthday. I have found a nice watch on a website called Blue Dial. You can see it in the picture. Blue Dial has great prices with free shipping and free sizing. Go take a look, they have many brands to choose from, such as Seiko, ESQ, Citizen, Casio, Movado, and many more. Its easy to shop by brand name and find exactly what you're looking for. Actually I may try to convince my wife to buy me a watch now because we can save up to 70%. If she will order soon we can get it by Valentines Day. Hmmmm maybe I will get her one for a surprise......

If at first you don't fricassee, fry fry a hen!
There are so many ways to cook chicken. My wife and I are learning more and more ways. She knows some recipes from her country and I know some from here. She introduced me to the pleasures of sauce made from coconut vinegar, soy sauce, and veggies. Any kind of meat is delicious when dipped into that sauce and chicken is no exception. I introduced her to the pleasures of chicken and dumplings, rotisserie chicken, and various other kinds. She came back with chicken adobo, halang halang, and tinolang manok. We enjoy sharing things we know with each other. Its so interesting to learn things from her culture and I know she likes to learn things from me also.
One thing I learned from her is that in some of the poorer areas of her country a person that is dead may have to give up their grave to someone else. That usually only happens to people who have been dead for many years and in cemetary's that are full to overflowing. There is a cemetary near to where my wife grew up that has many disintered bodies and the bones are placed around a big wooden cross in the cemetary. There is simply no more room for graves so anyone that is not buried in a sealed cement vault is subject to losing their grave. I can't imagine knowing that my loved ones had been "dug up" for any reason, but I understand that its necessary in some countries to do just that.
Although many parts of the cultures of my wife and I are different, we are sometimes amazed at some of the similarities. Some of our sayings are the same, but in 2 different languages. When I first heard my wife say some things that I had heard all my life here in America, I was very surprised. I guess some of the things we think are American are actually all around the world.
As time passes my wife and I will continue to learn more and more, about each other, and also about our respective countries. Our marriage becomes more and more interesting, unlike many other marriages that become dull and stale over time. Thank God for my wife!
Mechanical control cables, top quality, big experience!
A lot of the items we use require a cable assembly to work right. For example there are many different automotive control cables that control many parts of our cars. If you need to find a source for automotive clutch cables or automotive hood release cables let me recommend that you visit CMA Cable online. They have been in business since 1974 making quality cables for many kinds of industries, such as transportation, recreational products, furniture, and even medical. You know that their cables have to be top of the line to be trusted in the medical field.
CMA will work with you to make exactly the right cable for your needs, and at the best price. If you need automotive brake release cables or automotive seat cables then CMA is your place to check out first. If you need a new miniature cable assembly they can do that for you also.
Let me give you an example of something that you might need a special cable for. Suppose that you was restoring an old model automobile and needed to replace the cables with new ones. Where would you find them? At CMA of course. They can make just what you need. Suppose you was building something that needed a remote actuation assembly. Once again CMA can fix you up! They are the company that sets the standards for high quality cable assemblies and have years of experience to back it up! If you have a business that uses cables to make your product work you need to contact CMA and get a quote from them. Click the links above and go take a look!

A stylish high quality way to store your pots and pans
My wife and I have so many pots and pans that when we try to stack them neatly into the cabinet, they just don't fit! Its aggravating because the one we need is invariably on the bottom and half the pans will fall out on the floor when we attempt to get it. We have been wanting a more efficient way of storing our pots and pans and now we have found it. Pot Rack Ixchange is an online site that sells enclume pot racks, pronounced "Ahn-Kloom". There is a huge selection of high quality and very stylish enclume potracks to choose from.
You can choose old world classic designs, or newer contemporary designs. These potracks are made to last, from products such as hammered steel and wood. When you buy an
enclume pot rack you are purchasing something that will last for a lifetime. They will become part of your family and be used by generation after generation. These potracks will help you to show off your nice pots and pans and also will keep them handy and in easy reach.
Check out the website! They have Hanging Pot Racks, Lighted Pot Racks, Wall Mount and Freestanding Pot Racks, and you will even find Pot Rack Accessories such as Extension Hooks, Chains, and Wall Brackets. Now my wife and I won't ever again have to dig through stacks of pots and pans trying to find the one we need. With these stylish, made to last pot racks, our pots will always be right where we need them, readily accessible.
I left my heart in San Francisco
You know the song as well as I do and if you have ever lived in San Francisco you know exactly what the song means. A lot of hearts belong to that fine city. There is no place in this world like San Francisco. There is so much to do and so many things to see. The Fishermans Wharf is visited by nearly 90% of people traveling to San Francisco, and of course there is Pier 39 and Ghirardelli Square, The Cannery, and North Beach.
San Francisco is a fascinating place to live. Once a person has lived there any other place would seem boring and uneventful. The Golden Gate Bridge is just one of the marvels that you would experience when you live in San Francisco. Alcatraz is another. Union Square is another. There are the cable cars and Chinatown. The list goes on and on.
If you are interested in moving to San Francisco, or if you are already there but are in the market for a new home, I have found a site that will help you locate San Francisco homes for sale. Realtor.com has literally millions of properties for sale all over the United States, and many of them are in San Francisco. If you would like to experience the neat culture of this unique city you need to go to Realtor.com and take a look at the properties they have to offer. There are properties in many price ranges. You can find single family homes, condo's, townhouses, etc. Its easy to do a search for the area you want to live in and you can also narrow your search by price. Photos of the properties abound.
Searching for what we want online is wonderful because we have so many choices, and we don't have to leave our home to do it. We can search day or night, and we don't waste any gasoline. If you are interested in buying property in San Francisco, or any other area of the United States, I highly recommend that you check out the link above. It can save you a lot of time and money!
Back to work with a vengeance!
After missing work because of the terrible weather we had last week, we are now back to work again. We even worked Saturday. That is cruel and unjust lol. Anyway I really am glad to be back to work and I hope the economy is starting to pick up speed. I have heard that it is, but who knows. There is so much propaganda put out nowadays that its hard to tell sometimes what is real and what is not. My job is just one small link in the chain that pulls our nation. Even such a small link affects all of the others though. Sometimes we all may feel like our work is not very important but it is. A chain is just as strong as its weakest link and even if we are that weakest link we have a right to be proud as long as we hold on with all our might. The products we produce where I work go to other companies who turn them into items to sell further down the chain. Our system is like a row of dominoes. Knock one over and they all go. When one thing booms, everything booms. I'm not sure if I'm ready for another boom just yet, but working pretty steady is good. On the other hand, a day off once in awhile never hurt anyone........
Finding the right house to rent can be easy
Finding the right home to rent can be challenging to say the least, but it doesn't have to be. We have all had bad experiences with renting, and some are downright horror stories. I recall a home that was listed as having 5 bedrooms and when the prospective tenants went to look it was just one big room divided by hanging blankets. What a hoot! I personally remember renting with a roommate and it seemed that they never had enough money to pay their share.
When looking for a home to rent its important that we find a home in the right neighborhood and at the right price. Its important to read and understand all of the fine print on the lease so we don't get cheated. Thats why its absolutely necessary when we are looking at apartments to rent that we find a reputable property manager so we know that what we see is what we get.
Let me recommend that you give Move.com a try. They have millions of properties all over the United States for rent. They can help you find exactly what you need and at the price you want to pay. Now you can look for a house or apartment to rent online and it will save you time, money, and gasoline, plus you will be easily able to choose from more homes than you could possibly check out in real life.
Its easy! You can do an online search by zipcode or by city and state. You can list the number of bedrooms and bathrooms you want and the price you wish to pay. Also on the website they have useful tools for you, such as one to help you locate insurance, or a mover to assist you in relocating to your new pad. There are lots of tips and advice to educate you on things such as having a roommate or how to move most efficiently. Move.com is a site that everyone should bookmark, because we will all be moving, sooner or later. Check them out!

Playing video games can be adddicting
My wife loves to play an online game called Shaiya. She has become an addict, and her sisters have as well. I am glad though, because it gives her something fun to do while I am at work. She works hard here at home but when she has extra time the game gives her a way to pass the time and not be so lonely.
Shaiya really is a fun game. I played it too for awhile, but I played so many video games when I was young that I don't get addicted to them now. What I am addicted to is the internet. To me a day without being on the internet is a day that is lacking. I love computers and I love to search for information on the internet. Its so nice to have a world of knowledge at my fingertips. I well remember before computers. When we wanted to find out about something we just had to go to a library and search until we found it.
My favorite video Games are the Need For Speed games. I love car racing. The one I have played most is Porsche Unleashed. I would love to have a real Porsche but I'm a few grand short. Maybe someday my ship will come in and I will be racing a real car....

Different foods and cultures
My wife cooked pancit for supper tonight. Pancit is a Filipino food that is made from small noodles, veggies, meat, etc etc. Its very good and filling. Its also healthy. Most of the Filipino food that she cooks for me is very much healthier than a lot of our American food is. Filipino's use a lot of veggies, rice, soy sauce, coco vinegar, and seafood in their recipes and its yummy!
I miss the Philippines and I am sure my wife does too. Her oldest brother is going to Manila this very day and I guess he will stay there. Manila can be a dangerous place, but its also a very interesting place to visit. So much culture. An American has to be careful there to avoid getting robbed. Pickpockets abound, and sometimes even taxi drivers will take you to a dark alley and rob you. People are poor there and they do whatever it takes to survive I guess. I suggest if you ever visit the Philippines that you eat their food. They do great at cooking food they understand but not so good at cooking American food. Hamburgers, mashed potatoes, etc can be found there but usually are not very good.
Well, its back to work tomorrow! I don't know if we will work for 2 days in a row or not. I think we may actually get too. Good gosh I hope not. No need to go at this work thing all at once. I need to ease back into it slowly lol.
God bless you all and have a great remainder of the week!

Back to work, but not for long
Well, back to work today, but only for half a day and then we ran out of work again. I was so sad to come home early heheheheee. My unemployment insurance is going now so I don't mind being off work. Its kind of nice to have a vacation. It was a beautiful day, lots warmer than it was last week. The ground is thawing now but its still frozen deep. The surface is getting pretty muddy now.
I don't have much to write about today so I will keep this short. Its good to be home with my lovely wife. She wanted me to play Shaiya with her earlier and I did for about an hour, but I get tired of it pretty quickly. She loves the game and plays a lot.
Everyone have a great week and God bless you....

Marriage and love
Tomorrow we go back to work but I'm not sure for how long. Maybe only one day. I told my wife today that I am enjoying the time off and I won't mind if we have more of it, just so its not too much. I have worked for many years with only a short vacation each year, and often no vacation at all. I like being at home with my wife and experiencing things so the time off is a blessing to me. Maybe when the day comes that I can't pay our bills I will feel differently.
We live in the country, not only in the country but up in the mountains with beautiful tall trees all around. We love it here. The peace and quiet is amazing and will make a person lonely and sometimes bored until you get attuned to it. I lived up here for many years by myself and yes, sometimes I got very lonely but not now since my wife is here. I know that sometimes she gets lonely while I am at work. She usually meets me at the door with a huge smile and a hug when I get home. That means a lot to me, especially after living here alone for so long. When my wife was still in the Philippines and we were trying to get her a visa to come here, there were times that we got pretty discouraged and our faith would get weak. Thank God that everything went well and now we are together. We have a love story that is different than most. We went through many experiences and much waiting and hardships to be together. That helps us appreciate our marriage and the blessings that God has given us to permit us to spend our lives together. Here in America when people marry its easy. There is no wait, usually no hardship more difficult than deciding which bridal gown to choose. Then when people are married they often don't take it serious and divorce over any small triffle that comes along. When a couple marries like my wife and I did you have much time to consider, much time to make sure that you really are in love, much time to long for and dream of life together. It was a special day when I got to bring my wife here to our home for the first time. That was nearly a year ago and we haven't looked back since.
Heres to all true love. May the world someday once again be full of it. May people take love and relationships more seriously. May we move away from so much material covetry and just live a simple, good life, full of love, peace, and happiness. Thats what I wish for you my friends. May God bless....

When I was almost a famous music star
This is another article about my childhood and some of my experiences.
I grew up in the Bible belt southern United States. My family is musical and we sang and played music in local churches. As I grew older I became interested in more upscale music and just one week after my 21'st birthday my younger brother and I joined a band. We played what we called country rock music. That was in the late 70's and early 80's. Such artists as The Eagles, Eddie Rabbitt, and the Bellamy Brothers were popular then and we fit right in. Much to my parents chagrin, my brother and I abandoned church and began playing in bars and nightclubs. We were working hard to become rich and famous someday. We made records and were on tv a few times. We traveled some and played in adjoining states. All my life I had thought that music was what I wanted to to for a career. It seemed so romantic and appealing. Turned out that it wasn't. Suddenly the new wore off and it became the most boring, lonely, thankless way of earning a living that I could imagine. My brother felt the same way but we hated to jump ship and waste all of the years of hard work. Finally we did and I don't think the others in our band ever completely forgave us. One of them went on to become an industrial engineer and is now the contracting engineer over several of the local radio stations. He made a good life for himself, probably much better than he would have if we had continued our music career. I have no idea what happened to the others but last I knew one was a truck driver. I think now he may own some trucks of his own. The girl that was one of our singers was a housewife with children the last time I heard, but that was many years ago.
Its amazing in our lives how we will stay close to people for many years sometimes, but then someday we just walk away without meaning too and maybe never see them again. My brother and I never actually intended to stop playing music, we just wanted to slow down, but that led to a misunderstanding. We had a blast most of the time when we were playing music, not so much in the bars and nightclubs, but when we had practice with the others in the band. We would get together every weekend and practice our songs, maybe learn some new ones. We would play music for an hour or two and then we would go out and play sports, or ride motorcycles etc. Sometimes we would go camping and swimming in local rivers. It was an experience, or series of experiences that I wouldn't have missed for the world, so to those others in our old band, where-ever they are. Heres to you, and to all the fun and experiences we shared. I hope your lives are good and that you are happy....

Remembrance of my childhood
The holidays are over and I regret to see them go. I love Christmas even though it seems that a lot of bad things happen during the holidays. Today my wife and I took down our Christmas tree and decorations. While we were doing that I started thinking back to my childhood and the Christmases we had. We were poor then but we always had something for Christmas anyway. Sometimes it was only some much needed clothes, but usually there were some toys too. We always cut a live tree off our farm and decorated it with the same decorations every year. We even used the same old icicles year after year. They got pretty wrinkled up and broken, but to us it was the most beautiful tree in the world.
In those days we used lights that were not LED and they did get pretty hot. The live trees we cut dried out in time and there was a definite danger of fire. We also heated our home with a woodburning stove and its amazing that we never burned down our house. I do remember once when I was very small that our home caught fire in the attic. It was from the chimney of the wood stove and my father climbed into the attic to try to beat out the fire. All water was frozen because the temperature was below zero if I remember right. All we had was a couple of gallons of water inside the house and my father would wet cloths, probably blankets or quilts, and beat the fire. He would get the fire extinguished at one end of the attic, only to find that it had sprung up behind him. Only desperation and hard work put out that fire. My father had no choice because we had nowhere to go if our home was lost. He did get it put out eventually, after breathing enough smoke to kill an average man, and our life went on as usual. I remember how hard it was sometimes in the winter to get enough wood to keep our home heated. The house was very old and uninsulated. Later we built a new house but the old one was like heating a barn. We slept under so many quilts that I could barely turn over in bed. It seemed impossible to have more than one or two weeks of wood cut ahead and we would often be out carrying wood by hand out of ravines because the ground would be too slick to take a truck to the wood. We always made jokes and said that the wood warmed us twice because no matter how cold it was, carrying wood up hill, trip after trip, will definitely warm a person up.
So many memories. I think I will periodically write some of them down here for you to read. Maybe you will find some interesting. I grew up with a lot of hard work and not much in material things. Thats why I understand my wife's people so well. They live in the Philippines and are very poor. They are amazed when I go there to visit and fit right in with them. I don't put myself above them because they are poor. I told my wife that I grew up the same way and I have a lot of respect for people that work hard and never give up. Success is not measured in monetary value. At least to me its not. I value the kind of people that can and will do whatever it takes to survive and be happy. People that believe in God and live accordingly. Maybe I am just old fashioned, I sure hope so because the old days were full of respect for God, each other, and our country.
May peace, love and happiness be with you. God bless you all....

The cold here cuts to the bone!
My wife has finally got to see what true cold is. The winter here is especially hard this year. We have had more snow than usual and this week has been bitterly cold. The temperature at night has dipped down to about 0 and the wind chill is much colder. Our water is frozen so we are hauling water from a nearby spring. I know that sounds like hardship but its kind of neat really. Almost like camping out. Our chicken houses are snug as chicken houses go, but even so the chickens water is freezing into a solid block in a short time. I know they must get thirsty but we can't keep them in fresh warm water all the time since our water is frozen too. Tonight the forcast is once again for about 0, but Sunday is supposed to be a little warmer, and next week is supposed to be warmer yet. The only bad thing about that is that when the ground thaws it will turn to mud. I'm not complaining though. Its a neat time of year, and its the first winter my wife has got to share with me.
Our little dog seems lonely because we don't go outside a lot. She jumps all over us when we do go out. Don't worry about her. She has a pretty snug house that we built for her. She loves to go into the woods and chase whatever animals she can find. She amuses us a lot because she is a amall dog but she will chase anything that will run. I guess sometimes they may chase her too lol.
There has been snow on the ground here for a week now. It shows no sign of melting but it does slowly evaporate. Eventually it will be gone. By then maybe we will get more. My wife and I haven't got out much lately so I don't have anything really interesting to write about. Hopefully spring will be here soon and we will fire up the motorcycle and go for a trip. Then I will regale you with our experiences. God bless all of you. Take care and drive carefully if your weather is as bad as here...

Are you a musician? I am and was nearly a professional musician once, long ago. I learned to play the hard way, I taught myself and it took many years. If you are an aspiring musician let me recommend to you that you take lessons from a professional. You will learn more and quicker, plus you will learn properly and it will save you from developing bad habits that you will have to break later. I have found a site where you can take piano lessons online. Even if you already know how to play, you can improve your piano playing by going to the Yokewong website and taking advantage of their expertise.
You will learn to read sheet music and apply it to your playing. You can learn to overcome stiff fingers and use them properly. You will learn how to reach octaves that were previously out of reach. You will learn in a step by step home course until you reach your goal as a musician. You will learn to do the scales and play such songs as Greensleeves. No matter whether you are a child or an adult, they have piano lessons for you. You can even get these lessons on DVD.
No matter if you are just a beginner in the art of piano, these piano lessons will have you playing like a professional soon. Someday you will be playing classic music from Beethoven and others. Yes that is included on this site too! Bring out the artistic qualities that you have inside you and learn to play piano like a pro. The sooner you start the sooner you can debut for your friends!

Winter is here and work is slow
Snow, snow, snow, and cold! Winter is here full force and there is snow on the ground and more on the way. Last night the temperature dropped down to about 0 degrees. Its the coldest my wife has experienced. She is from the Philippines and she has been staying in the house most of the time, with the heat turned up. Actually the cold doesn't bother her nearly as much as I thought it might. She takes the extreme temperatures as well, maybe better than I do.
On a more serious note, I will probably go sign up for unemployment tomorrow. The slow economy and the bad weather combined is just too much for my job and we ran out of work today. Oh well, its more time to spend here at home with my lovely wife. I just hope I can get enough money on unemployment to pay the bills and eat. Actually we will just get in our waiting week on unemployment this week and who knows, we may never get to use it. Better safe than sorry though so we want the waiting week over so we have the protection of getting a paycheck every week, either from work or from unemployment benefits. Thank goodness for unemployment insurance. Many people are using it right now and its all that is keeping food on the table for them.
The holidays are over and I have to say that even though Christmas didn't pan our quite like we had hoped, I stil enjoyed it. My wife was here with me this year and that made everything special. My mother went into the hospital 2 days after Christmas with what we thought was a heart attack, but then they couldn't find anything wrong with her. We still don't know what it was, but thank goodness she seems to be ok.
Everyone have a wonderful week and God bless you!

Now you can have a perfect smile
Most of us have a less than perfect smile. Sometimes our teeth can cause us outright embarrasment. Cosmetic dentistry has come a long way and now there is a way to get the white lovely teeth you have always dreamed of. Lumineers can provide you with dental veneers that will give you the beautiful smile you want. It just takes two dentist visits and its painless.
There is no drilling, no shots and you have absolutely nothing to lose, because if for some reason you don't like the results you can have the procedure reversed. How is all of this done you ask? An approved dentist can put porcelain veneers on your teeth to make them white and perfect. The veneers are the thickness of a contact lens and your teeth won't be altered by shaving or grinding. This procedure has been used by celebrities and have received a lot of media attention.
Having a pretty smile is good, not only asthetically, but also in the business world. When we look our best we will get noticed more often and more favorably. Nobody wants to go to a job interview with a smile that shows terrible looking teeth. Also in the dating world a pretty smile is worth more than gold. Our smile is one of the first things other people notice about us, and its one of the things they judge us by. Don't go through another day being ashamed to show people your smile. Check out what this procedure can do for you.
